Privacy Policy

EquiMallorca respects your privacy and processes personal data only where necessary to operate this website and respond to enquiries.

Contact enquiries
If you contact us through our website or by email, we process the information you provide in order to respond to your enquiry.

Website hosting
This website is hosted by STRATO. Technical data such as IP addresses and server log information may be processed when you visit the website.

Cookies and consent management
We ask for your consent to non-essential cookies with a consent banner provided by the Complianz plugin, which runs entirely on our own server; no data is sent to the plugin maker or any other third party. Scripts that require consent are only loaded after you agree; at present this website uses none. Your choice is stored in first-party cookies named cmplz_* for up to 365 days and can be changed or withdrawn at any time via the “Manage consent” button shown at the bottom right of every page. Legal basis for storing your choice: our legal obligation to document consent and our legitimate interest in operating the banner (Art. 6(1)(c) and (f) GDPR).

Live weather module (“Mallorca today”) on product pages
Some product pages show the current weather for Palma de Mallorca so that our rugging, fly-protection and leg-protection advice can be read against today’s conditions. When such a module comes into view, your browser requests the current values (temperature, humidity, wind, precipitation, UV index) directly from the open weather service Open-Meteo (OpenMeteo GmbH, Bürglen, Switzerland, api.open-meteo.com), an open-data service. The request transmits your IP address to Open-Meteo for technical delivery; according to its terms, Open-Meteo keeps IP addresses in server logs for technical and security reasons without linking them to identities and deletes them after 90 days. No cookies are set, no identifiers are sent and we receive no personal data back. Switzerland is recognised by the EU Commission as providing an adequate level of data protection. The values are not stored by us. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in presenting our editorial advice in context (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Open-Meteo’s privacy notice: open-meteo.com/en/terms.

Web analytics: Matomo (self-hosted, without cookies)
We measure the use of this website with Matomo, open-source analytics software that runs on our own server. It sets no cookies. The last byte of your IP address is removed before anything is stored, and user identifiers are pseudonymised. Data recorded: the shortened IP address, pages viewed, referring page, browser and device type, approximate region derived from the shortened IP, and the time of the visit. The data stays on our server and is not passed to third parties; raw visit data is deleted automatically after 180 days, and only aggregated statistics are kept beyond that. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used and improving it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); because no cookies are set and the data is anonymised, no consent is required.

Fonts
The typefaces used on this website (Fraunces, DM Sans, DM Serif Display, Manrope, Poppins, Open Sans) are stored on and delivered from our own server. No connection to Google Fonts or any other third-party font service is made when you visit the site.

External content
Our website may contain links to or embedded content from third-party services such as Instagram or video platforms. These services may process data according to their own privacy policies.

Affiliate links and partner programmes
Some links to external retailers on this website are affiliate links. We take part in affiliate programmes run by networks such as Awin (AWIN AG, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 1A, 10249 Berlin, Germany) and by individual retailers. When you click an affiliate link you are forwarded via the network’s tracking server, which may set a cookie or use a comparable technology on your device so that a later purchase at the retailer can be attributed to EquiMallorca and a commission paid to us. The cookie typically contains a click identifier and a timestamp, not your name; attribution windows are usually 30 days, and the network states that it keeps tracking data for up to three years. The network and the retailer process this data as independent controllers under their own privacy policies (Awin: awin.com/gb/privacy). Our legal basis for providing these links is our legitimate interest in financing an independent editorial website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); where the law requires consent for the cookie, the network or retailer obtains it on its own pages. You can block or delete such cookies in your browser at any time; the links keep working. Affiliate links are marked on our pages and a purchase never changes the price you pay. Details: Affiliate Disclosure.

Product images from partner retailers
On some pages, product images are loaded directly from the retailer’s servers (currently Horse-Shop via cdn.horse-shop.net and TRI Equestrian via Shopify’s image service, cdn.shopify.com). For technical reasons the retailer or its image service receives your IP address and information about your browser and the referring page. Shopify may process this data outside the EU, for example in Canada or the USA. We do not set cookies for this. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in showing current product images (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Newsletter
If you sign up for our newsletter, we process your email address and the language of the sign-up page in order to send you the newsletter every 14 days. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Sign-up uses double opt-in: after entering your address you receive an email with a confirmation link, and the subscription only becomes active once you click it. To document your consent we store the time of sign-up and confirmation and the IP address.

The newsletter is managed with the WordPress plugin “Newsletter” (Stefano Lissa) directly on our website. The data is stored on the server of our host STRATO in Germany; emails are sent through STRATO’s mail server. The data is not passed on to third parties.

Links in the newsletter carry campaign parameters (UTM) so that our website can recognise a visit coming from the newsletter. Opens and individual clicks are not evaluated on a personal level.

You can withdraw your consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in every issue or by email to dana@equimallorca.com. Your data is then deleted unless a statutory retention obligation applies; proof of the earlier consent may be kept for up to three years.

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

Your rights
Under applicable data protection law, you have the right to request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data and, where applicable, to object to or restrict its processing.
