The big race for four-year-old trotters on Mallorca: the Gran Premi del Criador is the breeders' prize, run over 2,650 metres from an autostart, and the centrepiece of a ten-race card at Son Pardo.
What is the Gran Premi del Criador?
The name says it: it is the breeders' prize. The field is four-year-old trotters bred in Spain, and places behind the start car are drawn by lot. With €77,400 in prize money according to the Federació Balear de Trot programme, it is one of the richest races of the season at Son Pardo.
The programme lists 16 entries. The Premi Associació de Criadors is run over the same 2,650 metres on the same day.

On 12 October one race belongs entirely to the women drivers.
The card of Gran Premi day holds a special race: the Premi Puig de Massanella is reserved for the women of the Club de Dames del Trot. They drive it themselves, in the sulky, over 2,150 metres with an autostart.
