Yeguada · PRE · MallorcaSon Maig
A small finca with a long breeding memory.
Yeguada Son Maig began in 2018 as a small family project breeding the Pura Raza Española on Mallorca. Gregori Pascual Morla and Sarah Hansy founded it, out of a lifelong passion for the horse and the wish to see their own horses born and raised at home.
A line needs a home.
A line of its own, on its own land.
Son Maig does not want to be a large yeguada. The number of horses stays deliberately small, so that the family knows each one and follows every detail of its development in person. Breeding here is not only about finding good crosses, but about long hours of watching, learning and deciding for the long term.
The name comes from the family finca, where the family lives and where the yeguada grows. Every horse born under this name carries a part of that history and of that land.
The Mallorcan countryside, the way the family lives it and the calm in which it spends time with its horses every day are part of how Son Maig understands breeding.

Reference points of the selection
Foundation mare, the true starting point of Son Maig
Three bloodlines that play an important part in Son Maig’s selection. Side by side, not one after another.
The aim is a functional PRE with breed, good structure, movement and above all balance. The result should be a horse with presence, quality and an even character.
Son Maig does not follow any single line in a closed way. The yeguada weighs what each can bring and looks for the balance between pedigree, conformation, movement and character. The names stand side by side, not in a sequence.

Selection before volume.
Every cross should make sense and give something to the next generation. In horse breeding results take years, so Son Maig moves slowly, learns from every horse and chooses carefully at every step. Not growth for its own sake, but a little better with each generation. Since the beginnings with Camila XI, Son Maig has grown step by step. New lines have been added, and the yeguada chooses its stallions as carefully as its bloodlines. Each generation is planned with many years in view.

“To imagine a cross, wait for months, see a foal born and follow it for years until it shows what kind of horse it becomes.”Yeguada Son Maig
Knowledge that carries on.
Behind Son Maig is a family that lives this project at close quarters.
Gregori Pascual Morla and Sarah Hansy founded Son Maig in 2018. Where the passion comes from is shown by Miguel Pascual Real, Gregori’s father and a lifelong horseman. From childhood he passed on to Gregori the love, the respect and the values that belong to the world of horses. A good part of the great passion that years later became Son Maig goes back to him.
He remains a pillar of the yeguada today, sharing his experience and taking part in every important decision.
Mallorca is part of Son Maig’s identity. The family grew up here, the horses live here, and here the name Son Maig is meant, in time, to stand for horses bred with judgement, patience and a great deal of devotion.
