How to equip a stable and yard
Yard kit is judged by how it survives, not how it looks in the catalogue. Flexible tubs that can be dropped, kicked and frozen, saddle racks that hold a saddle's shape rather than a saddle's weight, feed mangers that can be scrubbed, hooks that take a wet rug. The good versions of these last a decade. The cheap versions are replaced every spring.
On a Mallorca yard the enemies are sun, dust and salt air rather than mud and frost. UV-stable plastics matter more than frost-proof ones, galvanised or coated steel outlasts painted, and anything that stores rugs needs airflow so nothing goes musty over a damp winter. Slow-feed hay nets do double duty in a climate where good hay is expensive and horses spend long hours in shade.

Questions riders ask
What does a new yard actually need first?
Water and feed containers that can be scrubbed, a place for each saddle and bridle that keeps its shape, hooks for rugs and headcollars, a wheelbarrow and fork that suit the person using them, and a hay net or slow feeder per horse. Everything else follows once the routine is running.
Which materials last in the Mediterranean?
UV-stabilised plastics, galvanised or powder-coated steel, and hardwood or treated timber for anything that lives outside. Sun degrades cheap plastic within a summer, and salt air finds unprotected steel quickly near the coast.
Are slow-feed hay nets worth it?
Usually. They stretch hay across more hours, reduce waste and suit horses that stand in shade for much of the day. Hang them high enough that a shoe cannot catch, and check the mesh size against the horse: small holes are for the greedy, not for the young or the anxious.
